Everett Boots – Western Product Specialist
Open listening, transparency and collaboration define Everett’s work with growers, independent agronomists and the retail network.
For decades, FP Genetics has played a quiet but vital role in Canadian agriculture — delivering seed genetics that farmers rely on to build their success. Now, with the introduction of the Western Product Specialist role, the company is strengthening that bridge between research, retail, and the realities of seed selection. Introducing Everett Boots, who’s at the heart of this effort.
Growing up spending summers on his grandfather’s farm east of Saskatoon, Sask., Everett developed an early love for agriculture. Enjoying being outside, working with crops and cattle, this connection guided him through a degree in agriculture at the University of Saskatchewan and over a decade with the Crop Development Centre, where he experienced firsthand the journey seed makes from breeding to field.
At the Crop Development Centre, he really came to understand the whole development process — from the initial variety breeding in the greenhouse to field trials and nurseries to the farmer’s bin, and now, at FP Genetics, he aligns those dots in the real world.
Everett’s role at FP Genetics is unchartered territory, with the opportunity to continually evolve as the future unfolds. “I came from research, and now I’m working with retailers — the hub for so many farmers.” His role will be working directly with growers and independent agronomists on top of the retail network, educating them on the genetically advanced varieties available, bridging the gap for meeting their customers’ needs. Offering solutions, with the traits that matter most.
His territory is carefully mapped out into sub-regions, which will allow him to visit as many retailers as possible, and more importantly, maintain an invaluable face-to-face connection. His goal for year one is simple, yet clear: “Be in front of as many people as I can, create those connections, nurture them. Then, moving forward, be that trusted source and reference point for our partners and the farm’s decision makers.”
The response has been welcoming and beyond encouraging. “Farmers have made mention they’d like to walk into any retailer and comfortably obtain advice about varieties and agronomics. That’s the support and stewardship I will deliver.”
His day can typically range from phone calls with growers, to on-site visits and work at trial locations, often joking that the most important thing about his role is when the phone rings, he immediately jumps on it. “With the role being so new and specialized, you never know where that conversation will lead.”
Everett takes this role both passionately and personally. In the end it’s all about helping farmers confidently reach their full potential — FARMING must WIN. “Weather, interest rates, and commodity prices are all unpredictable, but your seed choice doesn’t have to be. I want to help farmers make the most of what they can control and be ready to face the future and its challenges”
He’s a natural fit for the role and for the company. Product knowledge can be learned, but qualities like open listening, transparency, and problem solving are deeply rooted in his personality. Everett’s approachable nature is already making a positive difference in the field, and his collaborative mindset aligns well with the team’s vision.
Everett’s work is driven by identifying the challenges farmers face and offering them detailed and accurate solutions. “The door is always open,” he says. “Farmers, retailers, agronomists — I’m just a phone call away. Let’s develop custom strategies, build best practices, and tailor decisions to your individual needs.”
FP Genetics isn’t here to just sell seed — it’s about the future unfolding, one gene, one variety at a time. It’s about coming together to Farm on Purpose, with Purpose!
