Achieving this status means oat growers can expect CDC Ruffian to receive preferential access, allowing them to more easily achieve a good market return for their high-value crop. “FP Genetics has established a trusted relationship with Grain Millers, and with the addition of CDC Ruffian to their preferred variety list, oat growers now have another FP Genetics milling oat variety to choose from when delivering production to Grain Millers,” says Rod Merryweather, CEO of FP Genetics. CDC Ruffian offers excellent yield potential that is 10 percent higher than CDC Dancer in Alberta, and 12 percent higher in Saskatchewan which will make it very attractive from a production point of view as well. CDC Ruffian has a very good agronomic and disease package ideal for production outside of the crown rust areas on the Prairies. “From a milling perspective, we really liked the milling yield generated by CDC Ruffian with a very high percentage of plump kernels.
